I am an artist named Emmeline Basulto, also known as Embot. Through suggestions of others with whom I’ve crossed paths, I’ve discovered parts of myself that I never knew existed. Opening up slowly to paint more of me, with deeper intent, to become a better communicator, I embraced the empathy bestowed on me by others - on my own in the Bronx, NYC, from a young age. My artwork — parts of me drawn onto a canvas, details how I’ve come to see my human experience. I started sharing little pieces of myself, understanding the world as a beautiful experience to be present for.

I never thought that I could put together a piece that would resonate so well with anyone, elements of yourself that you never knew existed — reflected back. No matter how little I knew, I continued to explore without needing any validation, an exquisite sense of bliss to find a more authentic version of me. I want to show my truth, see it on the canvas and feel it yourself — to maybe find a way to live your truth. Those who know themselves know bliss - the world and its afflictions repelled. I hope to share a calming fortitude with others to see what I cannot in my art - what may resonate with you in its details, whatever may strike you as its most valuable lesson. Becoming more percipient, more attentive, more alive.
